Electra has issued a safety recall notice for their Amsterdam model bicycles. Electra has learned of an error in the interior alignment tabs of the chainguard, which can result in the chain coming off. Electra has had one report of minor cuts and abrasions from a fall.
If you own one of the Electra Amsterdam bicycles shown below, please stop riding it and immediately bring it to us for inspection.
The recalled bicycles have an enclosed chainguard with “Electra” and “Amsterdam” printed on the bicycle frame and/or chainguard. Bicycles with frame numbers beginning with “F06” or “EL,” or bicycles with chainguards marked “06/08” are not included in this recall.
The frame number is located on the underside of the frame bottom bracket (tip the bike upside down and look at the bottom of the frame near the large front sprocket).
If your Electra Amsterdam bicycle is subject to this recall, the chainguard will be replaced at no cost. You may contact us for details and to set up an appointment. Or, you can contact Electra at 800-261-1644 or visit www.electrabike.com for more information.
