Triathlons in Southern New Jersey

Atlantic City International Triathlon

Athletes, prepare to Tri Your Luck at the 4th Annual Atlantic City International Triathlon on September 14th, 2014 at Bader Field, America’s first municipal airport. Located just 4 blocks from the beach, our new location provides athletes with a safe bay swim, lighting fast Atlantic City Expressway bike, and of course, a run on the World Famous Atlantic City Boardwalk.

To compliment our International Distance event, DelMoSports has added a sprint race consisting of a .25 mile swim, 10 mile bike, and 5k run, an AquaBike consisting of a 1 mile swim and 20 mile bike, & a kids race consisting of a .5 mile run, 2 mile bike, and .5 mile run (all contained within Bader Field).

The Atlantic City Triathlon has a distance for first timers looking to ‘tri’ the sport, to experienced elite athletes wanted to test the limits of performance.

Cycling Clubs

The Shore Cycle Club is a non-profit organization devoted to promoting bicycling for fun, fitness and friendship throughout the Southern Shore Counties of New Jersey. The club was founded in 1973 in Ocean City, NJ with its original members participating in bicycling races around the Ocean City area. After 10 years, the club evolved from a racing club to a full cycling club including racing, touring and recreational riding. After over 35 years, the club has grown to over 150 members that include road cyclists, mountain bikers, racers, tri-athletes and general fitness enthusiasts, all with varying degrees of bicycling ability.

Although most of our members live in the tri-county area, some members live in the neighboring counties to the north and west in New Jersey as well as in Pennsylvania, Delaware and other states. Most of our rides and activities are based in the South Jersey shore area and the surrounding Pinelands forest areas.

The club is now a forum in which to meet fellow cyclists who share your interest and ability in bicycling, no matter what level of expertise and ability. For the most part, it is the general membership that organizes the rides and notifies our "rides coordinator" to get the word out to the membership so that all club members can participate and enjoy. While "the club", itself, sponsors a few regular "pre-set" rides, many more cycling outings are offered by the individual membership as they choose. During the warmer months, most members prefer to ride on paved roads (road rides), while in the winter months the members shift gear and prefer the off-road rides through the wooded dirt trails on fat-tire, ATB or mountain bikes.

Shore Cycle Club sponsors two annual fund-raising rides. The first ride is the Jerry Hanclich Pinelands Triple Loop which is ran out of the Batsto Village Park in Washington Township, Burlington County on during the month of May. This ride features three distinct loops varying in distance from 28 to 40 miles. Riding all three loops will allow you to ride a full century (100 miles). The second ride is our Belleplain Fall Century which is ran out of Belleplain State Forest just outside of Woodbine in Cape May County in late September / early October. This ride will feature multiple loops and varying distances to accommodate both the novice and experienced cyclist, so you can tailor your ride up to a full century (100 miles). During the year, the club will advertise these rides on its web site, in its newsletter and distribute flyers in bicycle shops, fitness centers and other community-minded businesses within our tri-county area.

The club also has two social events during the year, the Summer Picnic (usually held in August) and Holiday Party (usually held in early December). Both functions are open to all club members and are also publicized through the web site and club newsletter.

Shore Cycle Club welcomes new members of all cycling abilities to join any time of the year. Go to the club membership page to find out how to join us and participate in all the fun.

South Jersey Wheelmen

The South Jersey Wheelmen is a cycling club that was organized in 1979. It's original purpose was to serve the needs of the recreational and touring cyclist, and it continues with that purpose today. The club is based in the Vineland area, but organized rides extend throughout the regions of Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem
counties New Jersey.

SJW Cycling Jersey
The production of our beautiful new club jersey was initiated, promoted, and organized by club member Allen Jackson. The "Jersey Devil" is a traditional part of South Jersey folklore and mascot for our annual Jersey Devil Century.

Club Meetings
Meeting are held at 6:30 pm on the first Wednesday of each month except December.
Click "Club Meetings" for directions and more information.
*Beginning March 2011 all meeting will be held at Sweet Life Bakery, Vineland.

Summertime weekly fun rides
During the summer months, the club usually organizes weekly rides. Check under Weekly Club Rides for details. Besides the website, the rides are posted in advance in our newsletter: The Spoke 'n Word. The distance and difficulty of each ride are noted and an effort is made to serve each member's ability.

SJW Bike Summit - 2010
Join us Nov 20, in Belleplain State Forest at the East Creek cabin for this first annual South Jersey Bike Summit meeting. You can also stay for the day or even the whole weekend for road or trail riding, good food, good beverages, and good biking friends.

SJW Convention
Our fall Convention is an organized biking vacation. Included is a brief get together to discuss club concerns supported with plenty of popcorn and beverages. This year Dan, Gary and Norma are taking us to glamerous Seaford, Delaware. This little known and little size city in southern Delaware is surrounded by beautiful and interesting country side. The biking will be outstanding. Click above for details.
