Ally Cat Recall

Pacific Cycle is recalling the Ally Cat bicycle accessory for repair. If you think you may have an affected Ally Cat, stop using it immediately! The hitch connecting it to the bicycle can fail, causing the Ally Cat to become unstable, which may cause injury.

The Ally Cat "tandem bicycle accessory" consists of a frame, wheel, seat, pedals, and handlebars. It attaches to a bicycle by a hitch (see photo). Bicycle stores and retailers nationwide sold the Ally Cat from March 2000 through July 2001. Ally Cats were also sold under the name "Mongoose Ally Cat," with "Mongoose" appearing on the frame.

The recalled Ally Cat has the model number AC 100, AC 200, or AC 300, on the top tube. Also, recalled Ally Cats have an aluminum sleeve on the hitch between the bicycle and the Ally Cat. (Ally Cats with nylon or plastic sleeves on the hitch are not included in this recall.)

Contact us, or the retailer from which you purchased the Ally Cat, to get a new hitch. Pacific Cycle can be reached at 800-626-2811 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time Monday through Friday, for a free replacement hitch and instructions.
